C&O Canal

2 days.
190 miles.
85 the first day, 105 the second.
one 6 mile road detour.
7 guys aged 16-49
3 fixed gears
4 geared bikes(pansies)
45-50 lbs of gear per bike(tents, sleeping bags, stove, etc.)
6 of us camping(Timmy, the girlie man, stayed in a hotel)
2 major mechanicals(one support hook sheared off of a pannier, at mile 2. fixed with some ingenuity by Trevor. One derailleur into spokes, broken hanger and twisted chain. Converted to a singlespeed by me.)
3 flats(one a double flat. one we couldn't get the tire off the rim for 20 minutes)
1 long dark tunnel(the Paw Paw tunnel, with a shortage of light to get through)
lots of great conversation and stories.(with embellishment)
2 crashes(one of which a half a mile from the end, which resulted in a severly bruised elbow, that required x-rays to be sure it wasn't broken.)
7 sore asses.
too many other aches and pains to mention.
1 lost pair of sunglasses(mine)
1 lost shoe cover(mine)
Pizza and beer at the end.(Pizzaria Paradiso)
Couldn't get much better.

Jim's Blog has a much more in depth write up.

Kept the rubber side down,
Jonathan
